Change is inevitable, growth is optional.
These words sit on the Homepage of my website.
And I believe them.
If the past few years have shown us anything we never truly know what’s coming.
We like to think we do.
But we don’t.
And at the same time our brains really don’t like uncertainty.
It’s a tricky paradox to live with sometimes.
I facilitated a session recently for a team in an organisation that has recently merged.
They hadn’t chosen the change, and yet here it was, something to have to adapt to on top of the already busy day to day.
We talked about the neuroscience of change and why it can be so challenging for us at a human level.
And we talked about what we can do to support ourselves and each other through it.
Change is life. Imagine a seed that never sprouts, a bud that never blooms, a chrysalis that never cracks open.
Change is life.
And we can resist it for the longest time.
I did.
I stayed unhappy, overworked, stressed out and kidding myself for the longest time.
This is just the way it is – at this level, in this organisation, in this sector, as a working mother, in the modern world.
Is it?
The moment my life changed was when I realised that I could take ownership of that change. When I could choose something else for my life. That it DIDN’T have to be this way.
When we are so busy, so stressed, not sleeping, not having a great deal of fun, it can feel almost impossible to lift our heads up and think about what we might need to change. To stop and ask if this is what we choose.
Change is possible.
You can choose something else.
Take a breath.
Tune in.
What needs to change?
Let me guide you out of this cycle that’s keeping you stuck.
